My family is on a mission to find the best gluten-free brownie and we gave the Aldi Gluten Free Brownie Mix a try.
We are sharing our thoughts. What we liked and what we didn’t like.
The Best Gluten Free Brownie
We love brownies. They are one of our favorite quick and easy desserts. I have tried quite a few different brownie recipes and store bought mixes since going gluten free.
Last year my family decided that we wanted to find the best gluten free brownie. In our quest to find the best gluten free brownie I am giving different recipes and mixes a try.
We have tried a homemade gluten free brownie mix, Pamela’s gluten free brownie mix, and King Arthur’s gluten free brownie mix.
I have also experimented to find the best flour for gluten free brownies.
Aldi Live GFree Brownie Mix
Over the last few years, Aldi’s Live GFree line has grown to include quite a few products. Some of them are only sold for a short time, some are available seasonally, and some of the products are almost always in stock.
The Aldi Gluten Free Brownie Mix is a product that is almost always available at the Aldi that I shop at. However, we had never tried it until recently.
We love the Aldi Live GFree Cornbread Mix, so I knew that it was time to give the Aldi Live GFree Brownie Mix a try.
At my Aldi, the gluten free brownie mix only costs $1.85. That is a great price for a gluten free mix.
The mix makes an 8×8 pan of brownies, but includes instructions for baking them in other sized pans and how to make cookies using the mix.
Ingredients in Live GFree Brownie Mix
The main ingredients in the Aldi Gluten Free Brownie Mix are sugar, cocoa powder, tapioca starch, white rice flour, baking powder, and cornstarch. It also includes a few other ingredients.
To the mix you add butter, water, and eggs.
Our Thoughts
We really enjoyed this gluten free brownie mix, especially for the price and convenience.
The taste was really good. My husband and son, who do not eat gluten free, thought it tasted like a regular brownie mix. I agree with them. The taste was great.
We did think it was slightly grainy. I think this is probably due to the fact that it only contains tapioca starch and white rice flour for the flour part of the mix.
My son said this was definitely one that I should make again. He really enjoyed it. My daughter took a brownie over to share with our neighbor, who does not eat gluten free, and she loved them. When non gluten free eaters love gluten free food you know it is good!
Overall we still like my homemade gluten free brownie mix recipe and the King Arthur Gluten Free Brownie Mix better. But for the price and convenience, I will definitely buy the Aldi gluten free brownie mix again.
It is easy and find and inexpensive to buy. If you have an Aldi near you give the Live GFree Gluten Free Brownie Mix a try.
Note: Aldi has no clue who I am. They did not pay me for my review. I bought the brownie mix to try because we really do want to find the best gluten free brownie and brownie mix. These are my family and my honest thoughts and opinions.

My family doesn’t eat GF but I’m making desserts for an event and need a gf option. This is a very helpful review, off to Aldi! Thank you!

I made cookies with this mix for my grandson who is gluten intolerant and very picky about just about anything. Well, he reluctantly tired one and then gobbled these up with the help of his his brother before their mom could even get one for herself. Very good product.

I have been making Aldi gluten free brownies for a few years now. I use coconut oil melted cooled to room temperature instead of butter. I also add chopped 1/2 of Aldi Choceur dark chocolate bar to the brownie mix and bake according to instructions. It comes out delicious.

Making these in FL, where I bought them is WAY different than what came out after making them at home in Salt Lake City, Utah at 5,200 ft altitude.
The FL result was GREAT!
I made half of the box of the cookie recipe as directed in SLC, UT. NOT GOOD!
Then I adjusted the recipe for Altitude on the other HALF of the box for more cookies (added 1 egg, 1 TBSP butter, 2 TBSP GF flour-baked at 300F). They were SO FLAT!
If you have any suggestions on how to adjust for 5200 ft altitude, I’d really appreciate it.
thanks!
